Nigerian Senate Wants Special Court For Terrorists.

THE Senate, yesterday, called on the Federal Government to immediately set up Special Courts for terrorism crimes if activities of members of the Boko Haram sect that have been engaging in bombings leading to massive loss of lives and wanton destruction of property must end.
During its retreat, the senate also called on the Federal Government to strengthen the laws relating to insecurity and terrorism, adding that there was also the need for the enactment of a witness protection law as that would help encourage citizens to volunteer useful information about perpetrators of violence.

POLICE DEBUNKS ASSASSINATION ATTEMPT ON GOV. OSHIOMOLE OF EDO STATE NIGERIA.

The police in Edo State on Friday blamed the students of the Institute of Technology and Management, Usen, for Thursday night’s armed attack on Governor Adams Oshiomhole’s convoy in the town.
Oshiomhole had held a rally in the town and was heading back to Benin City when his convoy was attacked.
A statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr. Anthony Airhuoyo, said the police had commenced an investigation into the incident and the burning of a police station by the students.
The statement said Oshiomhole had met with the students briefly and promised to address them on his way back from his campaign before the attack.
The statement reads, “After the campaign at about 6.15 pm, the governor decided to address the students on another day because it was already getting late.
“But the students barricaded the expressway on the outskirts of Usen in order to compel the governor to visit their institution.
“When their demands could not be met, they resorted to throwing stones and other missiles at the governor’s convoy.
“In the process of dispersing the riotous students, two of them were injured and are currently receiving treatment.
“Nobody was killed in the process. The students later regrouped and went to Usen Police outpost and vandalised the place.
“Investigation has commenced as the area is closely being monitored by the police.”
In another statement signed by the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Louis Odion, the Edo State Government alleged that thugs loyal to the Peoples Democratic Party had opened fire on the governor’s convoy shortly after he paid a courtesy visit to the traditional ruler of the area (Onogie) Oluogbe II, in his palace.
But the PDP promptly denied involvement in the attack through its Publicity Secretary in the state, Mathew Urhoghide.

LAURYN HILL Pleads Guilty in Tax Case Faces 3 YEARS in Prison.

According to TMZ, Lauryn Hill just pled guilty to a major federal crime … admitting she intentionally failed to file several tax returns in the past decade — and now the former Fugees singer faces 3 years in prison.
Hill pled guilty today to three counts of failure to file tax returns for the years 2005, 2006, and 2007 — when she earned more than $1.8 million.
When the judge asked if Hill “intentionally and willingly” failed to file the returns, she replied, “Yes.”
In addition to the 3 years behind bars, Hill could be smacked with $75,000 in fines.
Hill was released on $150,000 bail. Her sentencing hearing is set for November.

Katie Holmes is said to have filed for Divorce from Her husband of 5years, Tom Cruise.
Both were hollywood super stars, and with their appearance together sometimes back(before the father’s day), one would not have suspected that something is wrong.
Anyways, according to TMZ, Katie is said to have filed the divorce on the grounds of her husband’s religion, Scientology which is being rumored to be cult, and she is afraid that her daughter may have been initiated into the cult.
Katie filed divorce papers this week primarily over Tom Cruise’s involvement with the Scientology church, and more importantly that Tom would drag Suri into the church.
Katie has never really fully adopted the Scientology lifestyle, even though she does have ties with the chuch.
It is said that the couple have been arguing lately over Suri, who’s at the age where Scientology would start playing a major role in her life, and Katie wants nothing to do with that.
Katie’s not only filing for divorce, but she’s also filing for sole legal custody – primarily because she doesn’t want Tom controlling any decisions relating to religion.
Also according to TMZ, Katie doesn’t give a rip about Tom and his money. She’s not only got enough money of her own, she also signed a hefty pre-nup, meaning she’ll be just fine.
Pastor Tunde Bakare summoned by Police Over Sermon On President Jonathan.

Men of the Nigerian Police Force have invited Pastor Tunde Bakare, over what the police termed a controversial sermon against Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan.
The invitation was signed by one Chief superintendent of police, Usman Ayuba, and it was delivered in the pastor’s church.
He is being questioned for allegedly accusing President Jonathan of deliberately trying to bankrupt the country
Publicity secretary of the Save Nigeria Group, Mr. Yinka Odumakin, who confirmed the development in a chat with LEADERSHIP on telephone, however, said Bakare, the leader of the group, was aware of the summon.
Bakare, the running mate to the presidential candidate of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), Maj.-Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, in the last general election was billed to honour the invitation but had left the country on Wednesday.
“We saw an invitation by the police asking Pastor Bakare to honour an invitation regarding a sermon that he delivered sometime ago, but, as I am talking to you now, he is out of the country,” Odumakin said.
Though, it was speculated that security agents might prevent him from making the journey, which many believe was to the United States of America, he made it without hindrance.

PDP chairman, wife, child killed in Jos Plateau, Nigeria.
29 JunAccording to the punch, The Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party in Sharubutu Ward of Bachit District of Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State Nigeria, John Baren, his wife and child, were killed on Thursday at Gwarim in Rim village by gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen.
An eyewitness said the Barens were returning from the funeral of a relation in Riyom when they were killed at about 3.30pm in a forest.
Confirming the incident, a member of the state House of Assembly, Mr. Daniel Dem, condemned the killings.
He called on the state’s Special Task Force to step up efforts to apprehend the hoodlums.
The lawmaker described Baren as a hard worker and a committed party leader.
Spokesman for the police in the state, Abu Emmanuel, said the Barens were on their way home when their attackers hacked them to death.

I almost could not believe my eyes when i read that the Hon in the middle of a N96 million bribe scandal Farouk Lawal, open his mouth and said he didnt recieve bribe but that he ”collected money”. i mean seriously, does he think that all Nigerians are fools, or illiterates?.
According to the Punch, he denied ever taking bribe from Otedola, but affirmed that he took money from him..
Details of the testimonies of the suspended Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Monitoring of Subsidy Regime, Mr. Farouk Lawan, showed that he admitted taking “money” and “not a bribe” from oil businessman, Mr. Femi Otedola.
Lawan had appeared before the House Committee on Ethics and Privileges on Thursday.
The committee, which is investigating the $620,000 bribery allegation, is headed by Mr. Gambo Musa.
Findings indicated that the panel grilled the former Chairman, House Committee on Education for over fours hours, starting from 1.07pm.
Investigations showed that before the panel, Lawan tried to draw a distinction between money and a bribe.
He was said to have argued that he took money with the aim of exposing Otedola, not a bribe.
A source, who was privy to the details of the testimonies, said, “He told the committee that he took money to expose Otedola, as different from a bribe.
“In the statement he issued, where he admitted taking the money, he drew the attention of the committee to the fact that he was careful with his choice of words.
“Bribe was not mentioned in the statement, but money. Money he took to expose Otedola.”
Lawan reportedly tendered text messages and call logs to the panel as evidence that he did not initiate the transaction between Otedola and himself.
“From what he tendered, it seemed the transaction was not initiated by him.
“So, what the committee has decided to do is to confront the other parties to the case with the information Lawan has divulged”, the source, who pleaded anonymity, added.www.kemmyokpaka.wordpress.com
Asked whether Lawan was in possession of the $620,000, the source said he replied that “a lot more information will be made available as the police and other agencies continu with their investigations. The truth is there.”
The source explained that because of the sensitive nature of the investigation, the committee later reasoned that it was not wise to make the inquiry public.
“Lawan has information and documents; he has text messages; he has call logs and other evidence.
“The committee didn’t want other witnesses to take advantage of a public appearance and work on their own testimonies.
“The committee wants to throw Lawan’s claims on other witnesses to see how they will respond.
“In that way, some conflicting information may come to the fore.
“The other witnesses too will be heard in camera and will be accorded the same protection as Lawan”, the source stated.
Lawan was discharged after four hours of meeting with the panel.
According to the source, the committee resolved to invite him again if the testimonies of other witnesses punctured his claims “or if there is the need to hear from him again.
“Otherwise, the committee is done with him.”

I read this story, and all i could do was open my mouth, shouted OMG!!!,and could barely close it. this is the very highest height of wickedness. and to think that this same woman is a mother………..im really short of words. I wanted to share with you, as anyone could help track down this woman,as i learnt she has absconded, and maybe some good samaritans can help the victim…
As i write this,Ola (the victim) in a critical condition and he is said to be under a serious intensive care in a hospital around Igando area of Lagos. His step-mum who works with the Lagos Internal Revenue Service took laws into and hands and punished him for beating her little daughter by pouring hot water on him while asleep.

“The argument that led to the sad incident started when my step-mum saw me beat my sister” recalls Ola, she got very angry and wanted to harm me back in anger, she reached for and did all she could physically, I tried to defend myself but she overpowered me. She got more furious after my father and some neighbors tried to stop her, and she started scattering the house and even broke bottles. My uncle who also lives around was able to drag her away from the house, and she slept over at his’ that night. I was still sleeping on my bed the next morning, when she walked into my room and bathed me with hot water; I staggered to the living room and saw my father and uncle. That was the last I remembered before I passed out and woke at the hospital.www.kemmyokpaka.wordpress.com
The father said his brother came into the house around 4:30am the next morning to settle the rift that occurred the previous day; they all sat in the living room, when the wife stood up and went into the kitchen. She was going in and out, and they thought she was preparing herself for work, not until Ola walked out of the room, looking weak and skin peeled, and fainted on the ground. We quickly rushed him to the hospital, while she stood staring and mocking him for calling out for help.
The case has been reported at the police station, while the boy is still at the hospital wallowing in serious pain, and the step-mum on the run.
